Ariana Grande just dropped a new single called “Monopoly”, which reached iTunes’s top chart in a few hours. The song features Victoria Monét, her longtime friend and collaborator, who wrote for artists such as Chris Brown and is the coauthor of “thank u, next” and “7 rings”, Ariana’s latest hits.
While “7 rings” was a very expensive production involving a pink crib and a mountain of crystal glasses full of champagne, “Monopoly” ’s video has an improvised and unexpected vibe. And it is something never seen before in the pop videos culture.
The American singer wanted Donté Colley, a young Canadian videomeaker, in her creative team. He recently became an Instagram phenomenon, who posts almost-daily videos of him dancing above emojis and motivating people to live their lives at their best. And that’s what he made for Ariana: a video in which she celebrates her success, all about positive vibes.
She wore a total customized look by GCDS, with a peluche around her waist, and black latex boots with vertiginous heels, confirming her halfway innocent halfway provocative style. Victoria rocked an oversized Fendi bomber and maxi earrings.
The BFFs celebrate their success, compared to the Monopoly game, their fluid sexuality and their friendship. They became even closer after writing a whole album, born thanks to a wild night that was all about Cliquot.
Cheers to Ariana!
