Fast fashion is the pleasure and the pain of the whole fashion system. It is surely nice to enter a shop and get those pieces you saw on the catwalk for a tenth of their original price, or because they were worn by your favorite IG’s it-girl. Meanwhile, this entire way of shopping is the reason why fashion has become more and more the same. Influencers on IG make you wanna buy all the things they are wearing, being as cool as them, dressed head to toe with the ultimate accessories and trousers and jackets. It’s almost irrational this desire of copying them and embrace their style, at least a little bit. When it comes to macro influencers such as Kim Kardashian, then, the copy&paste effect is amplified at the 100%.
The latest news say that the well-known celeb might be secretly collaborating with Fashion Nova, a very popular e-commerce brand, to accelerate the “see now, buy now” trend. Recently mrs Kardashian West was seen wearing several vintage 90s Gaultier and Mugler creations, which are just perfect to hug and embrace her dangerous curves. A few hours later, websites like Fashion Nova or Pretty Little Thing were seen displaying very similar models, of course at a very cheap price.
The most controversial fact happened a few weeks ago, when Kim wore a super sexy black Mugler dress that left a very little to the imagination. But four days before she rocked the dress, a Fashion Nova testimonial showed on her IG stories her photoshoot, in which she was wearing a very similar dress. Its name? “Kim dress” of course!
Another one: last month Kim did a fitting with a sample of a Yeezy creation, a very sexy golden dress. Simultaneously, Missguided started selling a way too similar dress, clearly photoshopped and probably non-existing. Kim sued the company, maybe because she has an exclusive contract with the American brand. It seems likely, considering that in occasion of Kylie Jenner‘s 21st Birthday Party Fashion Nova copied the looks of all the Kardashians, from Kylie’s glittery jumpsuit to Kourtney‘s lilac dress and Kendall‘s one in black latex.
Does Kim secretly collaborate with one or more of this brands? Very plausible.
Instead of Cardi B, who’s publicly sponsoring Fashion Nova through her hilarious Instagram posts, Kim does it all without telling anyone. Her popularity and her knowledge in how the fashion industry works are fundamental to make her the Influencer with capital “i”. Think about it: Kanye and her are everywhere in fashion, from the super expensive Yeezy collection to the cheapest fac-similes of her looks. Whether it is high fashion or low cost, Kim influenced it.
