Converse X JW Anderson Run Star Hike

The Chuck Taylor evolution

By

We saw them in London last September on the runway by designer Jonathan Anderson for the SS19 season. The new silhouette designed in collaboration with Converse represents the evolution of the iconic Chuck Taylor model, the one chosen by the duo for the various collaborative interpretations.

"The contrasting proportions have always been part of the aesthetics of my design. When I approached this new Converse, I was trying to recreate the same aesthetic by combining the sole of a Run Star with the classic Chuck Taylor to emphasize the proportions"

This is what the designer said about the new Run Star Hike: the sole. The need arises from the desire to merge the classic Chuck Taylor model with a running shoe, hence the study of proportions for the creation of this sneaker that consists of three distinct parts: upper, classic 70s, midsole and sole. The details with respect to the design are typical of the aesthetics that has always distinguished the collaborations between Converse and Anderson: linearity, cleanliness and class. In the white version of the sneakers you can see the upper in linen instead of canvas and a small but sought after detail: the inscription 1917 (year of the All-Star debut) near the patch.
