If you dig a little deeper in the young and incredibly famous top model Kaia Gerber’s IG profile you will discover that the very first photo she posted back in 2012 was a sweet shot of her puppy Widget. An innocent frame of private life of a twelve-year-old girl who was soon going to turn into a super model.
After a brief sequence of snaps of her childhood, captured while she’s hugging her brother or while she’s going on an adventurous trip with mom and dad, the watershed between Kaia’s private life and Kaia’s glamorous career is to be found in a shot for Teen Vogue. After that, she posed with her beloved mother Cindy for Vogue Paris, where they both smile in a blissful atmosphere, and the thing gets only better. Kaia’s popularity exponentially increases, cover after cover, from the one for Pop Magazine to the one for Love Magazine, where she’s shot by one of her many friends, Kendall Jenner. Her beautiful face resembles Cindy’s iconic one for sure, but there’s also something slightly different and kind of intriguing as well, such as her big and deep brown eyes framed by harmoniously symmetrical eyebrows, a perfect profile and long wavy hair. This is the definitive rise of Kaia, whose life is turning into a fashionable fairytale.
Her catwalk debut was back in 2017 during New York Fashion Week, where she walked for the fresh new Calvin Klein by Raf Simons, dressed up in a jeans shirt and yellow lucid trousers. It’s only the very beginning of the year, and things are only getting more and more interesting and exciting, since Kaia is basically everywhere, on any single magazine, because she’s an OMEGA ambassador together with the rest of her family, or because she’s on TV, advertising for Zalando, or because she became a Valentino’s muse. Pierpaolo Piccioli, Valentino’s designer, adores her “joyful mood and her typically ‘80s beauty which are declined in a contemporary way”. He wanted her at his latest Haute Couture show, where he dressed her up in a dreamy pink gown coordinated with a backcomed hairstyle. Vogue Italia chose her for its July’s cover, super fresh and very sophisticated, in which she’s shot by Craig McDean with a series of androgynous looks, and the title is simple but effective, just “kaia!”, and the exclamation point is more than right, since she is unstoppable and always surprising.
Photo after photo, Kaia narrates not only her working life, but also her private one, represented by her beloved brother Presley, her parents, her best friends, such as Bella Hadid and Vittoria Ceretti (they went on holiday in Liguria together last summer), her mentors, like Karl Lagerfeld and Alaïa, and last but not least, her social commitment to important issues, such as the gun control.
Even though Kaia’s very young and already popular and skilled, she remains humble and deeply attached to simple things, like her family.
