Travel means love too in Isabelle’s case. The artist has been living in Oslo, where her boyfriend lives, for a few years now. She left behind her previous job as a fashion designer assistant in Motréal and when she settle down in Norway she found it quite hard to find a new one. Since she had a lot of spare time she decided to start painting, and what was originally a simple passion became a real life job, published on glossy magazines. She also collaborated with different brands, like PUMA or Lido, an adorable Italian swimming costume collection.

Even though fashion is not her proper business anymore, she’s constantly in touch with it, both for work and for passion. During the fashion month she always keeps an eye on Vogue Runway to see what’s going to be on next year, and then she draws inspiration from the new collections seen on the catwalks for her models, turning her illustration in a sort of personal fashion wishlist. Favorite designers? Vivetta, for her fresh and joyful approach towards fashion, but also Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana for their incredibly special details.

Isabelle mostly uses watercolors and gouache, and her chromatic palette includes all the colors, pinks and yellows, light blues and greens, flashy red details, and so on. Her style recalls Matisse because of the sinuous curves and the expressionist use of color, Gauguin for the exotic settings and the multi-ethnic models, whose hair are often adorned with flowers like Frida Kahlo used to. These artists forged her vision and her technique, but Isabelle’s taste is also shaped by IG contemporary artists, like Ines Longevial and Karl-Joel Larsson. The curvy muses that inhabit Isabelle’s dreamy illustrations have different skin colors and different shapes, and they are all extremely cool. When the artist first started to draw them she didn’t even realized this, since she was used to the inclusion of multiple types of women in her paintings. When she started to earn some attention on IG, women used to comment below very often about how much they felt empowered and beautiful thanks to Isabelle’s vision of the female world. She didn’t represent a single and often extreme beauty ideal, but the quintessence of women, that comes in every skin tone and size. Isabelle kept her unique style to provide also a message of self confidence and a more frivolous one connected with fashion. “I definitely want my girls to be different types of fashionistas”, she said, all united by the irresistible passion for fashion.
